Please provide a short description of your initiative (What is being done? Who is participating? What are your main goals?) This text will appear on the main page.Senzorvzduchu, z.s. is an association operating in the Czech Republic with the aim of spreading awareness of the possibility of citizen measurement of air quality through self-built sensors. Senzorvzduchu, z.s. works closely with Sensor.Community and uses its open network. Sensor.community is a global sensor network founded in 2016 with currently 14,148 sensors in 71 countries. Together, we have taken 11,229,115,118 measurements.
The sensors measure PM10 and PM2.5 particles, temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity and some even noise in real time. Information about the air condition is displayed on a map. The data is stored and freely accessible for an unlimited period of time in an archive. Bidirectional connection to APIs, graphing and application creation, setting up alerts for deteriorating air conditions and, in community projects, history visualization is possible. Collaboration of the whole community is done on Github.
Who is your main audience?Citizens, Schools, Non- Governmental Organisations

Would you like to share with us any additional information? (Max 300 words)For information on the state of the air, it is desirable to have as dense a network of sensors as possible. The network Sensor.Community, citizens themselves can contribute with their measurements and thus to inform us all. With an investment of around 50EURO they can build their own sensor at home. Almost anyone can build one, the software is already
ready. If something doesn’t work, we will be happy to advise you on our forum.
– we proposed the Sensor2School initiative to Prague city officials, but hesitated to support the proposal because of their past experience. We are learning how to communicate the importance of this matter to them, showing that is something they should want and need to involve citizen initiatives in the air quality measurements.
– on the other hand we have very positive feedback from schools involved, as they acknowledge the importance of highly localized data and its use in schools as there is a change in the digital curriculum involving all schools and subject starting from 1.9.2023
